The 2011 Wisconsin Towns Association Scholarship Program
Are you looking for some extra funding for college this coming fall? Then the annual Wisconsin Towns Association Scholarship program is looking for you!
Rural Mutual Insurance Company, Wisconsin Towns Association, and Scott Construction, Inc. are again for the 26th year offering the following scholarships to winners of an essay contest.
- Two (2) $1,000 scholarships will be awarded, one each to the highest ranking boy and highest ranking girl from a town or village insured by Rural Mutual Insurance Company.\
- Four (4) $1,000 scholarships will be awarded, one each to two boys and two girls.
- One (1) $1,000 scholarship to either a boy or a girl who has the highest ranking below the previous four scholarships.
Scholarship Essay Requirements:
- All applicants must be graduating from a Wisconsin public or private high school in 2011 and plan to attend a Wisconsin public or private college or vocational technical institute in 2011.
- Entrants must prepare an essay addressing the following topic: “How can towns and villages best protect their infrastructure and still provide other needed services in tough economic times?”
- The essay should be typed, double spaced and between 500 and 1,000 words with correct spelling, grammar and punctuation.
- Essays must include a bibliographic listing of sources used.
- Essays will be judged independently on originality and subject matter in relationship to the topic. Judging will be completed by August 15, 2011 and recipients will be announced by that day.
- Successful recipients are encouraged to attend the 2011 Wisconsin Towns Association Convention Banquet on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at the KI Convention Center in Green Bay, WI.
- Proof of enrollment in a college or institute of higher education will be required to receive a scholarship. A waiver will be allowed for students unable to enroll until the second semester following high school graduation.
- The completed essay should be postmarked no later than the deadline May 25th, 2011 and mailed to:
